Hey, I'm Red!

I guess before anything else, I would say that I write. And I communicate. Really, that’s at the core of all of the work I do, but I find that the skill and work involved in simple writing and communication can really go a very long way.

Writing, after all, begins with reading and understanding. I am excellent at interpreting data and documentation, and I am great at handling information presented to me. I’m quick on the uptake when all the facts and requirements are presented to me up-front. I like to get things done.
 

When it comes to the actual writing, I think the beauty of it is in understanding how your audience would like to be spoken to. Whether  it’s an advertising copy, a report for your boss, or a memo for another department, the key lies in understanding the message, and knowing the best way to communicate it. And that, I believe, is one of my greatest strengths. I work hard and take great care in recognizing my market, my audience. I strive to bridge any and all gaps in communication and write in a way that is ideal for my desired reader. I want to make sure that my understanding is passed on.

And really, so many things follow after that. Good writing, good communication, in my opinion, is also the key to good leadership. It is at the center of good relationships between peers. Wherever I go, I seek to help people find a voice and bring people together. 

In my varying leadership and management roles, this remains to be my ethos, finding that great working relationships between leaders and their constituents is founded on mutual respect, open communication, and trust.
